The bad just keeps getting worse

According to a report from Cat Scratch Reader, Panthers starting OLB Thomas Davis is out for the remainder of the season with a torn right ACL. Davis suffered the injury late in yesterday’s game against the Saints in New Orleans.

This is terrible news. Davis was the best player on the Panthers defensive unit, and now he’s out for the year. Landon Johnson will (probably) fill in for Davis in the starting lineup.

Darin Gantt adds that Davis will be placed on IR sometime in the near future.

Also, I’ve added a glossary of terms. Feel free to check it out if you would like.

I feel your pain B-Dub. Much like your Panthers the Bears are going the wrong fast. The loss of Davis is just a further kick to the nuts of the Panthers fans who not only have to deal with inept coaching, but must live with horrible quarterback play, too.I see the Bears and the Panthers on the same downward spiral for the next few years. The Bears have the quarterback, but nothing to put around him and a defense that gets worse with every snap. The Panthers have no future at quarterback right now and will most likely lose Peppers at the end of the season. At least the Panthers will be sure to have a new coach come next season, but the Bears owners will never eat the two years remaining on Lovie Smith's contract.

The sad thing, Evan, is I don't think the Panthers will change coaches. I think they will give Fox a free pass because of the injuries, and the Panthers will go through the same crap next season.

I don't see this team winning more than 6 games without Thomas Davis on defense. Ron Meeks' system is designed to lead everything to the weak side and let the OLB make plays, and Davis was the best playmaker in that spot. The reserves aren't that great, and the run defense will suffer greatly because of it.Right now I see a potential 5-11 or 6-10 team, but I think that Fox will get a free pass because he can use the injuries to key players as an excuse to save his job for one more season.Hopefully they will still change offensive coordinators though, because Davidson has no excuse as to why he deserves to stay.
