Fox/Hurney post-draft press conference

Carolina Panthers Head Coach John Fox and General Manager Marty Hurney met with the Panthers beat writers to speak about the team’s 2010 draft choices.

Overall, I think the Panthers had a great draft. They took a top-10 rated QB at 48, a good blocking WR at 78, traded down in the 4th round and got an extra 6th round pick, took a great OLB/DE in the 4th, and filled holes in the defense in the later rounds.

Compared to the rest of the league, the Panthers easily had one of the 5 best drafts, especially when you take into account that they didn’t even have a first round pick (and didn’t give up the 2011 first rounder either). Now, it’s up to these draftees to get to work on and off the field and make something out of themselves, and help the Panthers win football games.

I think the Panthers did well. They basically got a first rounder with Clausen. Good point about not having to give away a first next year to get him.
